Senior Minister Search Committee
TERRY OUSLEY, co-chair
TERRY OUSLEY is one of the church's seasonal members who carries the spirit of our community both here and in Iowa. He joined the church in 2021 and has become part of CCOVB's Called to Care Ministry. Terry embodies the vision of Community Church in his care for others. His welcoming presence comes through in his service as an usher in the Sanctuary service. He attends almost every musical event, special service, and he is a regular volunteer in the kitchen at the church's Wednesday night food-fellowship-Adult Education sessions. He is also a Stephens Minister. Terry enjoys serving on several non-profit boards. Before retiring, Terry was the head of customer relations for a large gas and electricity company that serves four Midwestern states.
BOB INHOFF, co-chair
Since coming to CCOVB in 2007, BOB INHOFF has served in many ways. He is a dedicated member of the Chancel Choir. For Bob and many others in the church and in the community, music and fine arts are important. He has chaired the Adult Ministry and the Trustees. Bob has served as Treasurer. He attends and occasionally leads Men's Bible Study and is part of a smaller Christ Care group. He is a Sunday Gospel, Wednesday Faith (Wednesday evening) presenter and organizer. Outside the church he is a 15-year Habitat for Humanity volunteer. Bob is a former American Baptist minister who spent much of his professional career as president of American Baptist Homes of the Midwest, an organization that operated housing and other services for several thousand people of all ages. Programs included retirement and nursing centers, group homes for those with developmental challenges, multi-family HUD housing, and group homes for Native American children.
BILL COLEMAN
BILL COLEMAN shares his many spiritual gifts both here and in Ohio. He chairs the newly formed Pastoral Relations Committee and is a past member and chairperson of the Trustees. Bill is currently an at-large member of the Church Council and a regular volunteer in the CCOVB Lunch for the Hungry and Homeless program that serves more than 150 meals each Monday. He also delivers food through a Meals on Wheels program in the Columbus, Ohio area during the summer. Bill, who joined the church in 2009, is a volunteer for the church's annual rummage sale. Bill is a retired CPA and former partner in a nationwide accounting firm.
PETER FERRELL
PETER FERRELL is all about helping people, both here and a long way from home. He is a clinical mental health counselor and seminary graduate. Peter was a missionary in Laos and Thailand with his wife, Lori and their two sons. In CCOVB, he served on the Children and Family Ministry, Church Council member-at-large and on the recent Executive Minister Search Committee. He volunteers in various youth projects including boating events and hosting youth dinners at his house. Peter is a member of our Called-to-Care Ministry, a program that provides training, spiritual support and friendship to church members in times of need such as—when they are undergoing loss, loneliness, illness, grief, or other hardships. The ministry provides confidential listening companionship on the journey to healing. Peter joined the church in 2014.
SUSAN HORN
SUSAN HORN is an active member of both the church and the fine arts community. She currently serves on the Youth Ministry. She and her family have been members since 2002. Susan has contributed her time and talents to various ministries within the church, including Children's Ministry, Missions Ministry, and nominating committee. As a multi-year Sunday School teacher, she taught in the Puppet Room, Theater, and Video rooms. Susan was also a member of the church's Family Band, performing Christian music at events like the annual Advent Dinner. In addition, She has participated in bible studies and volunteers at the annual rummage sale. She finds guidance through meditation and prayer, values collaboration, and prioritizes honoring diversity. In the community, Susan co-founded and serves as the film selection chair for the popular annual Vero Beach Film Festival.
MICHELLE MANTEL
MICHELLE MANTEL is a friendly and compassionate person and the loving mother of twin teenage daughters who are active in CCOVB's Youth Ministry. A member since 2021, she enjoys volunteering at church and has been serving as a Deacon since January. Michelle has also served on the Youth Ministry and participated in the annual "Boo! Bash." She most often attends C2 services and especially enjoys the church's interfaith services. This past January, Michelle helped organize and facilitate a church women's retreat titled "Catch Your Breath." She has been an active volunteer in churches throughout her adult life. Professionally, Michelle is a gerontological nurse practitioner who has worked the past 18 years in home health and hospice. She currently works as a hospice clinical, compliance and billing consultant.
DEB PINEDA
DEB PINEDA is one of the many welcoming people to be found on the Fellowship Ministry. She is a retired nurse starting as a recovery room nurse, then to the emergency room. She spent most of her career as a case manager whose skills eventually led her to a two year assignment as a research nurse at Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital in Baltimore, studying geriatric disease processes in nursing home residents. Her natural care giving has led her to help with CCOVB's children's ministry activities at Easter, Christmas, and Halloween. She joined the church in 2023 and helps with the popular, annual Christmas Wish Tree program that brings presents to scores of community children. She brings her spirit-filled presence to Bible study, sharing her gifts of community. Believing there is always room for more people in the pews, she recruits friends to come try out Community Church.
BETSY SMITH
BETSY SMITH first came to Community Church as a child in the 60's when her parents brought the family to Florida three months at a time, year-after-year to visit Betsy's grandparents. For five decades CCOVB was her church home away from home. As time went on she brought her children to church here. Today, Betsy is a Deacon, a Called to Care Minster and a member of the newly formed Pastoral Relations Committee. Prayer is at the center of her life and essential in her process for discernment in all things. Betsy joined the church in 2019 and has enjoyed all worship services including Jazz Vespers. She has participated in Bible studies and faith formation classes, as well as retreats, concerts and children's festivals throughout the year. As a Deacon, she attends all of the worship services of the church. Betsy and her husband, Rory, serve in mission work in the wider community, as well.
KAY YURIGAN
KAY YURIGAN currently serves on Trustees and she has served on the Deacons Ministry. She was Church Clerk for three years. She has chaired three nominating committees and served two terms on the Youth Ministry. Kay has also been a member of the search teams for Preschool Director and Executive Minister. She is on the Post Scholarship Committee and has been on the preschool advisory committee and part of the Vision 2020 focus group. Kay and her husband, Mike, were married in the church in 1990 and joined the church when they moved to Vero Beach in 2006. Their three sons have been active in the CCOVB Youth Program including participation in summer mission trips. She splits time between the Sanctuary service and C2 but also attends Chapel services. She is blessed with the multi-generational experience of having her sons and mother active in the same church. As a profession, Kay has long been involved in citrus sales.
