Welcome to the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Community Church of Vero Beach, Florida. You may be reading this as a member or friend of the church, or part of a community far from the Treasure Coast of Florida. Nevertheless, we’re united through a common love of God and neighbor whether we’re here in Florida, or serving God throughout the world.
Since 1924, we’ve inspired generations of homesteaders and ranchers, sailors and sun-seekers to follow the way of Jesus here at Community Church. With the help of God, we’ve created safe space for all God’s people to strengthen faith and increase their love for one another.
As Christ prayed “that they may all be one” (John 17:21), so we work to heal divisions in the Body of Christ. Regardless of the labels society may place upon us, all are welcomed into fellowship. The unity we seek is a gift of God, undergirded by love and compassion towards one another. We affirm the historic understanding of Christian community which states: “In essentials unity, in non-essentials diversity, in all things love.”
Your Community Church transforms lives through compassionate service to the vulnerable. Through every generation, we express open curiosity about how God’s spirit changes us and our world.
Creative expressions of faith through worship, music and the fine arts inspire our members and guests.
And through courageous conversations, God equips us to respond faithfully to the most pressing issues of our time. Our extravagant hospitality invites all people to explore faith and spiritual practices that flourish life for us and for all.
As our 100th year celebration here in Vero Beach now begins, we express gratitude to the visionaries who preceded us, those who imagined a community church of diverse people committed to the conviction that there’s more that binds us together than separates us in the worship of God.
Today, God’s story continues through you, wherever you may be, as together we courageously inspire and generously serve all people, for the now and for the next.
May God’s grace, mercy and peace fill and surround you, and also unite us through these challenging times.
Rev. Dr. Anna V. Copeland, Senior Minister
