Latest Update

The Search Committee is committed to providing you with all the latest information. We will post an update frequently in the bulletin, and that update will be shared here.

June 10, 2019 - The work of the Senior Minister Search Committee will continue through the summer, even as some of us are not in the same physical location.

Here is where we stand:

  • Names of possible candidates submitted to us by members of the congregation have been given to our search consultants, and where appropriate, have been contacted to determine mutual interest.
  • The members of the search committee have been diligent in their commitment to spend time outside of our many regular meetings, reviewing candidate profiles, listening to sermons and praying for discernment.
  • Our search consultants have presented a first batch of quality candidates, and we have had very preliminary interviews with several. The consultants’ work continues. We are not yet close to any decisions.

Finding the right senior minister is not a quick process. We are looking for someone who has the kind of extraordinary preaching skills we have come to know at Community Church. And we also seek someone who has experience leading a large staff organization. This is a significant management job.

Our timetable for the search remains open, until we find the person whom God intends to be our next senior minister.

Bob and Casey Baggott are on vacation this month, and will be back here with us in July and August. Additionally, we are prepared to make temporary appointments when and if necessary, but only if necessary.

We remain excited about the challenge facing us, and we will continue to move slowly and carefully to ensure we find the best possible leader for our church.

We ask for your continued prayers and support.
