Rev. Dr. Casey Baggott joined the staff of the Community Church of Vero Beach in 2004 and serves as Executive Minister. She helps in the leadership and planning of worship, authoring the liturgy used in the services of Community Church. She teaches a variety of classes, leads prayer ministries, and serves as liaison with other staff members and boards.
Casey has an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa, a Master of Divinity degree from United Seminary of the Twin Cities, and has received her Doctor of Ministry from the Graduate Theological Foundation, in South Bend, Indiana. She has completed additional training in clinical pastoral education, bioethics, and spiritual guidance; and she has studied in the Summer Theological Institute at Oxford University, England.
Casey was chosen to teach the Week Long Bible Study on Genesis by the Temple Church, in Orchard Park , Maine in 2006 at the 125th celebration. In the summer of 2007 she was invited to teach the Gospel of Matthew at Ocean Park, New Jersey's week long celebration of faith. Casey’s publications include two full years of liturgical prayers for the Clergy Journal in 1997-1998 and 2001-2002, a sermon series for the Clergy Journal in 2003, and a sermon entitled "With Me" which was chosen for publication along with twenty other sermons in the fourth edition of the Library of Distinctive Sermons in 1998.
Before coming to Vero Beach, Casey worked in the areas of behavioral research, as a chaplain, and as a consultant in bioethics and spiritual ministries, as well as serving as a parish pastor. She was also the first woman clergy to be elected to the "Women’s Economic Roundtable of Minnesota" in 2002. Here in Vero Beach, Casey has enjoyed continuing her community service via membership on the board of directors of the Homeless Family Center of Vero Beach.
