Search Committee Members

A Search Committee has been established to find the new Senior Minister whom God intends to shepherd Community Church into the future. The Search Committee consists of nine members of Community Church who have had varied leadership experiences, representing virtually every committee of the church.

DAVE SAMS

SEARCH COMMITTEE CHAIR

Dave and his wife, Betsy, moved to Vero Beach 18 years ago following his retirement as a life insurance company executive in Hartford, CT. They continue to enjoy summers on the Connecticut shoreline. Their daughter and two sons have blessed them with eight grandchildren ranging in age from seven to sixteen.

The Sams first began attending Community Church when Jim Kidd served as Interim Minister. They joined the church in 2005 soon after the Baggotts arrived. Currently Dave is a member of the Board of Trustees serving as co-chair of the Finance Committee.

Dave remains active on several corporate boards and in Indian River County on the Board of the United Way Foundation as Chair of its Finance Committee. Both he and Betsy have taught church school and served as Elders in Presbyterian churches. In their Congregational church in Connecticut he served as Finance Chair and Stewardship Campaign Chair. Of particular value in our present task is Dave’s experience on three Pastoral Search Committees.
