Rev. Joel Reif is a native of North Dakota and has lived in Kansas, Illinois, and Indiana before coming to Florida in 1999. Joel attended Ottawa University in Ottawa Kansas and Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard Illinois. He served two different churches in Illinois, the first one for three years and the second for thirteen years where the growth of the church allowed them to purchase more property and bring additional staff on board. Rev. Reif then served a church in Indiana for five years where they rebuilt the pipe organ, reconfigured the staff, and remodeled the sanctuary. Upon leaving that church Joel took a leave of absence and worked very successfully in sales for two years for Service Corporation International reaching the” Million Dollar Club.” He then served a church in Orlando Florida for thirteen years leading them to pay off their fifteen year mortgage in four years and rewriting their bylaws.
Rev. Reif brings a vast array experience to Community Church. Pastoral Care has always been his passion, so this position is a great fit. Rev. Reif has served on numerous boards and committees with the United Church of Christ as well as a variety of civic and community organizations. He proudly served as a chaplain and Firefighter/EMT for the Lyons Illinois Fire Department in Lyons, Illinois. He also is an adjunct professor for Rasmussen College, teaching classes in religion and successful living. Joel and his wife, Cindy, have four children and six grandchildren. They love to ride on their motorcycle along with their Jack Russell Terrier, Deacon, to relax.
